Interior & Exterior
Color that lasts.
Sherwin-Williams for Florida conditions
Florida's sun, humidity, and salt air demand quality paint. Here's what makes the difference.
Paint Applications
Exterior and interior paint serve different purposes and face different challenges.
Exterior Paint
(Outside Walls)Protects your home from UV, moisture, mold, and weather. Quality matters more outside than anywhere else.
Best For
- Weather protection
- UV resistance
- Mold and mildew resistance
- Curb appeal
Considerations
- •100% acrylic recommended
- •Higher sheen resists moisture
- •Prep work critical
- •Florida sun degrades cheap paint fast
Interior Walls
(Wall Paint)Covers interior wall surfaces. Sheen choice affects durability and appearance.
Best For
- Living areas
- Bedrooms
- Hallways
- Standard interior spaces
Considerations
- •Flat/matte hides imperfections
- •Eggshell most popular
- •Satin for more durability
- •Washability varies by sheen
Interior Trim
(Trim & Ceiling Paint)Trim, doors, and ceilings typically get different paint than walls.
Best For
- Baseboards and crown
- Door frames
- Doors and cabinets
- Ceilings
Considerations
- •Semi-gloss for trim durability
- •Flat/matte for ceilings
- •White trim is classic
- •Trim color coordinates with walls
What Determines Your Paint?
Quality, color selection, and proper application matter most.
Paint Quality
Premium paint costs more per gallon but provides better coverage, durability, and appearance.
- •Better pigment concentration
- •Superior binders and resins
- •Better hide in fewer coats
- •Longer-lasting color and protection
Sheen Level
Sheen affects both appearance and durability. Higher sheen is more washable.
- •Flat/matte: hides imperfections
- •Eggshell: slight sheen, washable
- •Satin: moderate sheen, durable
- •Semi-gloss: high durability for trim
Color Selection
Color affects mood, perceived space, and resale value.
- •Neutral colors maximize resale
- •Dark colors fade faster outside
- •Light colors reflect heat
- •Coordinate inside and out
Surface Preparation
Proper prep is critical for paint adhesion and longevity.
- •Clean surfaces required
- •Prime new drywall and repairs
- •Caulk gaps and cracks
- •Prep determines final quality

Common Questions
Why Sherwin-Williams specifically?
Sherwin-Williams offers consistent quality, wide color selection, and excellent availability in Florida. Their Duration and SuperPaint lines perform well in our climate. If you prefer Benjamin Moore or another premium brand, we can accommodate with pricing adjustment.
Can I have more than one interior color?
Our standard includes one interior wall color plus trim/ceiling. Additional colors (accent walls, different room colors) are available as upgrades. Multiple colors add labor time for cutting in and transitions.
What about accent walls or special finishes?
Accent walls, specialty finishes, and statement colors are available as upgrades. Let us know during design what you're envisioning and we'll price accordingly.
How do I choose colors?
We recommend visiting a Sherwin-Williams store to see physical samples. Colors look different on screens vs. walls. Consider your flooring, cabinets, and lighting when choosing. We can provide guidance but the final choice is yours.
